µ-Ziq cancels DJ set at Dour - Clark as substitute

Unfortunately Mike Paradinas, for the most of you better known on his alias µ-Ziq, had to cancel his dj set on this year's Dour Festival for yet unknown reasons.
But there's no need at all to be sad about this annulation. The fabulous UK-electronic Chris Clark (meanwhile only called Clark) will be more than a worthy alternative, especially because he won't be presenting his and other people's music in a dj set.

Wu-Tang Clan to play Dour again this year!

Surprise, surpise. As a so called "20th anniversary bonus" the venerable
Wu-Tang Clan will be rocking the main stage on this year's Dour Festival along with the world-famous actor and rapper Ice Cube to present their latest album 8 Diagrams.
So who didn't have the oppurtunity to go to Dour last year to see the legendary Staten Island rapcrew will get a second chance this time.
You better take it - "'coz you never know when you gotta goooo...".

DJ-Kicks: Burial needs time, Rapture will help out

The next DJ-Kicks sampler after the great successes achieved lately by Hot Chip and Booka Shade was supposed to be compiled by Bristol based dubstep dj Burial, who attracted attention by releasing his boundbreaking debut Untrue end of last year.
Now the !K7-Headquarters in Berlin had to announce that the obvious perfectionist Burial will still need a bit more time to hand his eagerly-awaited compilation. But, according to !K7's informations, DJ-Kicks by Burial is still going to be released this year.
Meanwhile The Rapture were accorded the honour of compiling the next DJ-Kicks sampler, which is going to be released in september this year. We may look forward to an explosive mixture of Hip-Hop, Funk, Disco, Tech-Jazz und Rock'n'Soul.

New album from Calexico announced for september

Calexico, the world's only band said to play "Tucson-Desert-Rock" is back in the studio again to record their new album Carried To Dust.
The album is said to be telling "the story of a writer in Los Angeles around the time of the writers' strike we had a while back in late 2007" says Calexico frontman Joey Burns.
The band lineup that solidified around Feast of Wire in 2003 is back again, along with a number of guests, including Sam Beam (Iron and Wine), Douglas McCombs (Tortoise), and Pieta Brown.
Maybe their fans at the german festivals Hurricane & Southside will be already getting a first foretaste of their new material.
Carried to Dust probably is going to be published on september 4th this year.

DJ Krush's attendance at the Dour Festival 2008 affirmed.

The legendary japanese prograp producer DJ Krush is going to play one of his ultra-rare sets on european ground, particulary on this year's dour festival in belgium, which takes place near the small town of dour from the 17th to the 20th of july. The former Yakuza DJ Krush gained fame end of the 90's by releasing several rap albums collaborating with american rap icons such as CL Smooth, Mos Def, The Roots or Company Flow.
